depron model building tips
The following will help you to get the best from your model building and flying.
Always cut the edge of the foam at 90 degrees to the sheet, in order to give a maximum glue contact area, and to keep your joints square.
Although 95% of manufactured depron models come with a flat plate wing, it is simple to build a profile section depron wing.
Depron can be folded and shaped with the careful application of heat, great success has been enjoyed by using hard wood moulds in warm kitchen ovens to create under cambered and jadelski type wings, the rigidity is not lost in its length,
building conventional box section shapes gives good structural rigidity, but the weight is an ongoing factor to remember, not to mention "she who must be obeyed"

Many modellers have discovered Foamboard a graphics and display product that is available at art shops, this is a Styrofoam sheet laminated between white card, although quite strong, but it is also very heavy.
Depron can be laminated between thin balsa sheets with glue to form strong yet light sheeting.
Depron can also be laminated between fine glass cloth, and wetted through with water based (none solvent) floor varnish found in B&Q. or foam friendly 2 part epoxy, for flat sheets make sure all excess varnish has been squeezed out of the work piece with an old credit card or suitable tool, and sandwich between two sheets of glass that has been coated with a release agent (spray the glass hair lacquer works well) what you have is a glow fuel proof sheet of string
You don't have to buy 20 sqr yard of depron sheeting at once, we sell by the single sheet from as little as 50p so you can buy just enough to build your project, and we are happy to custom cut for deltas etc. please email for specials sizes.
